What is Illuminate Educator?

Illuminate Educator (IE Educator) is a new app designed for use by educators to access student information within Illuminate education. This app is not a replacement for the full Illuminate Education mobile website, but rather a companion app which will allow you to access certain types of information and School Focus from a mobile device (The School Focus App no longer exists as a separate application). The app does not currently support assessments and reporting. Please continue to use the Illuminate Education Web App for anything not specifically related to what’s listed below in “What can I use it for?”.

What can I use it for?

IE Educator can be used for the following:

Dashboard - Banner blasts, bulletins, and teacher class rosters
Students - Student demographics, contacts (legal guardians only), attendance, grades, schedule, health, and behavior
Messages - Exchange messages with portal users
School Focus - Allows you to use your camera to upload photos and videos that parents can see via the IE Parent and Student Portal .

What is School Focus?

School Focus is a part of the IE Educator app that allows teachers to take photos throughout the day and in the classroom, tag the student(s) which will then automatically post to the Student/Parent Portal (Illuminate Home Connection Portal). Teachers can post photos of children at recess, doing class activities, or even childrens completed artwork and projects.

With School Focus, Teachers can let Parents see what’s going on throughout their child’s day within seconds. The best part is Parents will be able to view these photos directly from the Student Parent portal or via the IE Parent and Student App. There’s no waiting to see those special moments from your child.

Once a Teacher takes a photo or video they can tag students directly from the roster in order to share directly with Parents. Tagged photos will be uploaded to Parents Portal immediately.

What are the technical details that I need to know?

The current version is only available on iOS devices running iOS 8 or higher.
School Focus video does not support HD resolutions. You can lower your iOS device’s video recording via settings. Please use 720p/30fps.
The current version does not support Single Sign On (SSO)
We strongly recommend using a wi-fi connection during use.
The data in the app refreshes every 10 minutes.
